Challenges

1. Understanding the end users
I got this project In a middle of the process of it (which means that I didn’t have time to research and understand the end user and market) and project deadline was very tight and PM, Front-end developers needed the screens for new update

2. Creating a consistent product
In the other hand, there were a lot of on going changes in web side and it was time assuming for developers to add different changes! So We also needed a new design style guide to improve the team performance, user experience and team efficiency

The Process

The Process

My process will be different in different projects and will be determined by many factors such as the project goals, business needs, problem to be solved, time and etc. Here I’ll describe my process for this project

Competitive Research

With the help of our team in Poland, I started to research about SIM competitors in Poland and gathered information about them in order to forecast the potential features that we need to have.

Insights:

  • This research helped me to figure out how should I change the new design
  • Doing the Competitive Research helped me to get the gaps between different products and try to fill them in our product

Mapping out specific features and services/MVP

After having a go-ahead from the Product Manager, developers, and Stakeholders on the mockupsAfter We decided to limit number of features to the very minimum in order to put the focus on the core features.

Ideation

User Journey Flow

Using the insights I gathered from stakeholders and other team members, I began add changes to user flows and improve the user experience!

I started creating the information architecture and low-fidelity concepts for primary use cases.

Early Sketches

I sketched different ideas with trying to fill the gaps in current pages and also helping the users to reach their goals.

Low-fidelity Wireframes

We had a list of screens to cover all scenarios and then we started to do grayscale wireframes to detail out the flows. In this step I also involved the developers to discuss about dos and don’ts

Design-Style-Guide

Laying the foundation

To improve the team performance, user experience and team efficiency, I decided to start build the Design style guide which helps to be fast when iterating on designs.
This foundation loosely defined our typography, colors, icons , buttons, spacing, navigation and many more :)

Project learnings

Project Learnings

Benefits of early user research

I couldn’t have designed a product users love without the help of the people who will actually use it!

This is important to understand the market and users, what do they need and how our product is going to help them! and also later on before any implementation, building lightweight wireframes or clickable prototypes to walk your user through a given scenario really helps bring it to life.

Collaboration is key
One of the most important things I have learned about this project was to communicate with other team member as much as I can and adding different perspective of different team member helped me to create a better user experience.
